Garmin StreetPilot c340 Review

by thrandur on January 23, 2009

Easy to use right out of the box, easy to understand the voice prompts, fairly accurate on turns and positioning. Usually use it for driving inside of NY State, also occasionally to PA, and once to drive to Toronto, Canada.

Unfortunately the product is no longer produced, but I wish the on-screen keyboard had a QWERTY setting. When typing in any kind of name (addresses, labels for favorites, etc.) the letters are arranged alphabetically. I feel that a QWERTY style display would be faster to use.

Map updates from Garmin are ridiculously expensive. Also hearing "recalculating" over and over while I drive in a parking lot for a meal is annoying, so I turn the volume down, then forget to turn it back up. Later causing me to miss a turn. I wish there was a temporary 2 minute mute that would bring the volume back up later automatically.
