Garmin Edge 705

I have a Garmin Edge 705. It is made for driving, mountain biking or walking, and I find it very effective - especially with the simple data cards which can be inserted into the back to give different maps.

It has a simple interface with a small joystick to navigate the well designed menus. It gives accurate road directions, and also shows paths over mountains. It can show you the elevation quickly on a graph on screen during the trip. A feature I like about it is that you can customise the display, showing as much or as little information as you want. You can also move the data fields around meaning you can reach the information you want quickly.

I would like to see less place names on the map screen though because they do get in the way when looking at the map. I think this could be easily fixed in an update, and it really would improve the overall experience.

I found it invaluable on a recent trip to the Black Mountains in Wales, it showed my track, and more importantly paths which took me back to the start.
